First Day of Preschool
Written by Janiece Self
The first day of preschool. Not sure this four year old had been waiting for this big day all his life, but everyone else seemed to think it was a good idea. No time for tears, just mother’s directions to keep a clear mind and a sharp awareness of one’s surroundings; an important plan for a little boy of 4 and anyone else.
I’m sure there were people he didn’t know as he made his way to his classroom, but many he did with one of them being an Appanoose Co Sheriff in uniform, a family friend. I don’t think his presence was official, but just seeing his own children to their rooms before he left for work. As they greeted one another with a hand shake my grandson asked, “Did you see a bad guy”? The officer responded, “No, did you”? Gus confidently answered, “Yes, he is headed south!”
We should begin each day knowing satan, “the bad guy,” is under our feet. Roman’s 16:20 says, “And the God of peace shall bruise satan under feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.” Jesus has defeated the enemy, “satan, the bad guy.” Speak as each day begins, “In the Name of Jesus leave me alone,” stand boldly with Jesus—believe in Him. Then we have the authority to put the devil on the run! James 4:7 says that he will run from us in terror! Why? Because he is afraid of the Greater One in us, he runs away, maybe south!!
