A Grandma's Point of View - Janiece Self

My daughter and son-in-law recently went on a 3 day hunting trip to Oklahoma. Their children are 7, 5, and 3. The children’s care for the 3 days was well planned in advance, and the children were looking forward to visiting and staying with different family members, with my husband and I receiving the first and last assignment. For the two older ones, the time went fast, but for Avery, the 3 year old, not so much. I got reports from the other caregivers that Avery was not eating. Just missing her Mom was the general consensus. Not sick, but homesick, which can be just as bad. So when I got a text from her mom that ETA was 5 hours, I decided a call was long overdue. Avery thought it was a good idea. Dialog was short, but when the phone was handed to me I said, “so your Mommy is coming home. . .” Without hesitation, Avery broke out in song, “Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” and she sang those words for at least a minute. She was expressing a joy that only those words could exemplify. A simple feeling, but have you ever felt that way? Do we look to go home or be at home with that much excitement? Should we be homesick for our heavenly home? I know we don’t remember what it looks like or of being there, but we should have a longing deep inside to just be home with our Heavenly Father. Just think what a day that will be! “Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” Thank you, Jesus, for making the way. John 14: 1-3: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in Me. In My Father’s house are many rooms: if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I am.”
